Search Guide For Job Seekers

Locate better job offerings, job recruiters, or companies that are hiring using these Google search tips here.

Tip #1: Finding Email Addresses

To find the email address of everyone listed within your Google search, type 'Keyword + location + “gmail.com” + site:__.' This will search the email address of everyone listed on the website of your choice matching the keyword and location you specify. For example, searching web designers + United States + "gmail.com" + site:linkedin.com will search the email addresses of all web designers within the United States listed on LinkedIn.

Tip #2: Find Related Content

To find something related to what you are interested in, simply type 'related:' followed by whatever topic you want Google to find similarities to. For example, typing related:online jobs will search for everything related to online jobs.

Tip #3: Search Documents Posted Online

You can find information about companies and their business owners, job conventions, etc. online simply by searching for documents online that were created. Search 'site:docs.google.com/spreadsheets intitle:startups' or try 'Site:docs.google.com/spreadsheets “conference” after:2022' to specify the year for upcoming conferences.

Tip #4: Omit or Include Items

To omit things from a search, type '-' after the key terms you are searching. For example, typing 'online jobs -data entry' will search online jobs that do not include any positions related to data entry. To include a specific component into your search and narrow it down to that component, type '+'. For example, typing 'online jobs +data entry' will search online jobs specifically related to data entry.

Tip #5: Find Exact Searches Or Variations To Your Keywords

To find exactly what you type into google, put what you type into quotation marks (for example, "online jobs entry level"). To find all variations or similarities to what you type and broaden your search results, type an asterisk before your search query then end it in a quotation mark (for example, *online jobs"). This will find online job related content, as well as suggest other content you may not be thinking about that can help you (work from home).

Tip #6: Find Something Nearby Your Location

To find a potential employer, business owner, or professional convention to attend near you, simply type what you want to search and add the word 'nearby' at the end.

Tip #7: Tell Google To Only Find Websites With Specific Keywords

To have your search results only find websites that include a title with the keyword you want to search for, simply type 'intitle:___.' For example, if your keyword is online jobs then type intitle:online jobs and Google will only find websites whose title include the keyword 'online jobs.' This helps ensure that the websites are related to your search query.
